Midnight in the Moonlight Garden

The Summerfair t-shirt color
started the creative process for this piece. The rust color of
the shirt called for smoky blues and dark blacks for contrast.
Coney Island themes of nostalgic 1950’s glitzy dances led to the
addition of the talking doll in a flowing strapless dress surrounded by
starlight and mystery.
My process is usually three-dimensional collage. And the
combination of raku clay with my battery-operated talking dolls fit
right into the theme of Summerfair at Coney Island. I imagined
midnight in the star-lit gardens and added the glittery sequins to
unite the theme all together.
