Fine Arts Fund

Sharon Strubbe

Since joining the Summerfair organization in November, 2006, as Executive Director, Sharon Strubbe has begun working on a list of goals and new initiatives for the year-round side of the Summerfair Foundation.  Those goals include:

  • Growing the Summerfair membership base, including building a strong YP contingent of members and volunteers that will contribute their skills and time to both the annual Fair and to the many year-round initiatives offered by Summerfair - including fundraisers, exhibits and collaborative arts sponsorships.
  • Developing a fundraising / sponsorship plan, specific to both the annual Fair and to support the year round programs of the Foundation.
  • Creating new and exciting arts initiatives that will build on the mission of Summerfair – “Supporting and Promoting Artists and the Arts Year-round”, including collaborative initiatives with other arts organizations in the Greater Cincinnati region.
  • Developing a strong brand identity / awareness of Summerfair’s year-round programs within the Greater Cincinnati region; in the arts, corporate and non-profit communities.

In addition to growing the year round programs, Sharon has just administered her first Fair and looks forward to working with the two Co Fair Chairs and their committees on the 2008 Fair.

Sharon is pleased to join the Board of Art Machine, Inc. and looks forward to developing a strong collaborative working relationship with this organization (including developing an exhibition schedule to promote the annual regional Scholastics competition and a fundraiser that will promote both organizations within the community).

Prior to joining Summerfair Cincinnati, Ms. Strubbe spent more than 9 years in the advertising and marketing field. During that time she worked with groups such as the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (“Bravo Paavo” campaign), Cincinnati Art Museum (“European Masterpieces” and “Gordon Parks” exhibits), Downtown Cincinnati, Inc. (“Go To Town” campaign) and Crayons to Computers.  Mrs. Strubbe also has more than eight years of experience in the art education field, including being the program director for the Association for the Advancement of Arts Education, a non-profit arts education program.
She has taught elementary and middle school visual art classes in both Florida and Ohio.  She is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a degree in Fine Art (drawing) and a minor in education.  She received her Masters in Art Education from the University of Cincinnati.
